We not only appreciate the commitment that South Whidbey Fire/EMS volunteers make on behalf of the community, we also appreciate the contributions made by their families and loved ones. Their support is vital and appreciated.
How do Support Services help the department?
Many members of our Fire/EMS family help in ways other than emergency response. You may be involved in planning special events, community events, or even helping around the administrative office. At times Support Services members are given special tasks that assist with our large scale exercises, like our annual Mass Casualty Exercise.
What special events are held each year?
Throughout the year there are opportunities to get together at annual social events where the outstanding service and personal contributions of everyone affiliated with the department is recognized. These include the Fall Picnic, Christmas Party, and Awards Banquet.
Who is invited and what is the purpose of these gatherings?
Depending on the event, our volunteers and their family members are invited. These provide a social occasion where we can formally and informally thank those who give so much behind the scenes support to our firefighters and EMTs. These events also provide a relaxed setting for fellowship and for getting better acquainted with members of this community.
How can I get involved?
It’s easy! If you are a spouse, family member or in some other way connected to a member of the department and wish to participate in planning our special events, we’d love to hear from you.
Click to download the Volunteer Application. Completed applications can be dropped off in person by the applicant at Bayview Fire Station, 5579 Bayview Road, Langley, WA 98260 during normal department hours so the administration may review the package and give any final instructions.
