Welcome to South Whidbey Prepares

The best way to survive any disaster is to prepare your neighborhood!
Depending on how wide-spread the impact of a disaster, we will need to take care of ourselves for as long as a couple weeks, perhaps even a couple months. Our best first responder is probably next door. Finding our strength will be in preparing ourselves to survive and thrive after natural disasters and to be resilient to the impacts of weirding weather. Our values include respect for all life, knowing that together we are much stronger and resilient than flying solo.
In this section, you will find encouragement to start, suggestions on how to engage your neighbors, resources to help you provision your household and ideas for those provisions best organized at a neighborhood level.
DID YOU KNOW?
Our South Whidbey Fire Department has only 30 volunteers and employees, several of whom live off island. Their first priority will be to determine the extent of infrastructure damage. How can we expect them to attend all 15,000 of us?
