BAYVIEW FIRE STATION ABOUT TO BREAK GROUND, Aug 6, 2018
Anticipation is growing at South Whidbey Fire/EMS as groundbreaking for the long-awaited fire station is rapidly approaching.
Last week, fire department officials met with representatives from Good Cheer, Island County, Valdez Construction and Carletti Architects at the new site where the Bayview fire station will be built. The group talked through some of the preliminary details and recommendations surrounding the project.
Activity should get underway the week of August 13. A formal groundbreaking event is expected the week of August 20. The public will be invited to that special event, but the rest of the time the location will be fenced off, as this will be a closed construction site.
“This is a busy intersection and we want to ensure traffic is not significantly affected as construction goes on,” said Chief H.L. “Rusty” Palmer. “We are working with a professional team. We anticipate their depth of experience will help lessen disruption to the neighborhood during the year long project.”
