Why I'm with South Whidbey Fire and Rescue: Originally, I joined to get involved in community service in a way completely different from my corporate career. I continue to volunteer because I enjoy the work, it makes me feel good to contribute to the community, and it is satisfying to spend time with peope from a variety of backgrounds but with a common interest.

Why YOU should volunteer: Fire/medical service provides a good combination of mental stimulation, and the sense of satisfaction derived from a community service that provides immediate visible tangible results. Much more so than simply fundraising for some anonymous large scale non-profit organization where you can't really see the good your individual efforts provide.
